Issaquah

If you were arrested for an Issaquah DUI (in the city limits of Issaquah by the Issaquah Police Department or by the King County Sheriff’s department while they are working on contract for Issaquah),  your case will be filed in Issaquah Municipal Court.  The filing of your DUI in Issaquah means that the prosecutors working on your case will be the attorneys who contract to be the city prosecutors and the Judge will be the Municipal Court Judge of the jurisdiction or on some days a substitute or “Judge Pro Tem”.

At this time, a DUI that occurs in Issaquah typically take from four weeks to two months to file.  In rare cases the officer will file your case directly with the court and your arraignment will be within 72 hours of your arrest.  In those rare cases the officer will give you your court date. The longer time before filing does not mean that you should wait before talking with an Issaquah DUI attorney.  Your privilege to drive is at risk of administrative suspension through the Washington Department of Licensing.  You have 20 days from the date of your DUI arrest to request an administrative hearing.  There are also several steps that you can begin working on now that will ultimately be helpful in the negotiation of your case.   By being proactive you and your DUI lawyer will be prepared when your case is filed.  This will ultimately save you money, time and stress when your case is filed.

In Issaquah Municipal Court the prosecutor often asks for very strict conditions of release.  If you have previously had an alcohol related driving charge they likely will ask that you post bail and/or be required to wear an alcohol detection bracelet known as a “SCRAM” bracelet.  This system is tremendously costly and you will be required to pay for it as a condition of your release if it is ordered.  For this reason, preparation is essential.  There are steps that you can take that will make it less likely that the judge will require bail or the SCRAM system of you.  An experienced DUI attorney can guide you to the resources that will assist you in protecting your freedom and your finances.  If you have been arrested for a DUI in Issaquah, call our experienced Issaquah DUI lawyers to assist you.
